Synopsis[]
In the final battle, Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok confront the girl head on — getting an assist from an old friend. Will they finally succeed?
Plot[]
The recap of Sweet Home Season 3 Episode 8 begins with Hyun-su and Eun-hyuk fighting off Yi-su’s minions. Amidst this, Eun-hyuk keeps trying to attack Yi-su and Hyun-su thwarts his every attempt. A flying monster takes up Hyun-su’s attention and Eun-hyuk finally throws his stake at Yi-su. Sang-won is about to stop it when Yi-su takes over. The stake hits her and Sang-won is forced to leave her body.
What happens to Sang-won?
Hyun-su moves Yi-su to the side and Monster Yeong-su comforts her. Yi-su apologises for making more monsters and asks Hyun-su to kill Sang-won for her. With a vengeance, Hyun-su attacks Sang-won who has now taken over a burnt Chi-seong’s body.
Hyun-su destroys the body and Sang-won again sneaks off. Eun-hyuk points out that they can’t keep destroying bodies and offers his body to Sang-won to kill once and for all. While Hyun-su and Eun-hyuk bicker over who should be the sacrifice, Sang-won possesses Sang-wook’s body once again and heals.
But before he can attack, Sang-wook takes over and starts crawling towards the bonfire. Hyun-su realises that the confusion in Season 2 when Sang-won hallucinates Yu-ri is because Sang-wook has been alive all along. Well, Sang-wook doesn’t allow Sang-won to escape and both end up burning to death. Unknown to Hyun-su, a dying Yi-su suddenly heals. Convenient, no?
How do the human survivors escape?
As for the human survivors, they realise that Tak’s monster body has created a wall between the stadium and the exit. Ha-ni is able to pass through and soon everyone rushes to the exit. However, Jae-jin cannot as Tak states that monsters are not allowed to pass. Kim recognises Jae-jin who attacks. At that moment, Chan-young, Ye-seul and Ja-young show up. Jae-jin keeps spitting scalding liquid metal everywhere and soon the room is flooded.
Ja-young uses her tentacles as a bridge, allowing Chan-young and Ye-seul to pass Tak’s wall. Kim detonates a bomb just as he passes as well and Ja-young and Jae-jin are killed in the process. Now safe, all of the humans regroup at a nearby construction site. Kim keeps an eye out for Ji-na who is healthier thanks to her medicine. However, Seon-hwa and Father Peter leave the group and drive away.
What happens to the Lee siblings?
Lee Eun-yu goes to the dilapidated Green Home and cries as she starts turning into a monster. She hallucinates human Eun-hyuk who hugs her. As for the real Lee Eun-hyuk, after Sang-won’s death, he leaves.
He does tell Hyun-su that if Eun-yu returns, it means she has become a neohuman and will most likely be with other neohumans like him. Hyun-su declares that if he finds her first, he will turn her human again and reunite the siblings as she wants. After Hyun-su goes back to the stadium, Eun-hyuk looks at his family photo and tries to emulate the emotions in it.
At the end of the episode, we see Eun-hyuk acting more human. He finds Eun-yu who has become a neohuman and calls Hyun-su. Eun-yu barely spares them a glance as she goes back to walking on the roof while listening to music like in Season 1. Eun-yu and Hyun-su smile as they watch her.
Why do the humans and neohumans agree to co-exist?
After his farewell with Eun-hyuk, Hyun-su goes back to the stadium and converts as many monsters as he can into humans. They head to the construction site and everyone is reunited. Chan-young suggests moving to a safer place and Ha-ni asks about Eun-yu. Hyun-su has an idea as he suggests moving to the neohumans’ home as that’s where Eun-yu will go if she ever evolves.
On the move, the Stadium Survivors run into a group of neohumans. A lot of the humans are still wary but they decide to live together as it is the best way to protect everyone from monsters who never evolve.
Together, the humans who get infected have a chance to turn into neohumans while Ji-na and Ye-seul teach the neohumans how to be expressive. We also see Yi-su and human Yeong-su together. Either Hyun-su knows she is alive or after he turns Yeong-su human again, Yi-su comes for the little boy.
