History[]
Biography[]
Nothing is known about Yu-Ri’s history prior to Green Home, other than she has been a hospice nurse and caretaker for An Gil-Seob long enough to form a very strong bond. She does not reference having friends or family during the monsterization incident.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
Initially seen a few episodes into the series living as caretaker to An Gil-Seob, after Lee Eun-Hyeok’s announcement that the first floor is safe. Mr. An wants to go downstairs and assist, but Yu-Ri is practical and concerned about his health. She gives him his medicine and teases him about his age, concealing worry.
Personality[]
The actress describes her as a nurse who heals the body and heart[1]; a young woman who has not had an easy life, who acts as nurse and caretaker for An Gil-Seob at Green Home Apartments. She has a very protective, sassy relationship with her much older patient, teasing him for being stubborn and dramatic. They are very protective of one another, similar to a father and daughter.
She is notably a very courageous, strong character in the face of the monsterization taking place - being concerned foremost with everyone’s well being, placing herself in danger several times (rescuing Han Du-Sik, Cha Hyun-Su, Yoon Ji-Su, among others). Yu-Ri arms herself with a large crossbow from Mr. An to keep monsters at bay.
Despite this exterior toughness, Yu-Ri is deeply traumatized by having to kill another person, even to save her life and Ji-Su.
Yu-Ri is initially frustrated with Pyeon Sang-Wook, a ‘gangster’ who rejects her medical help and ridicules her sense of communal responsibility. Her empathy for his tragic scarring and evident goodness beneath the bluster eventually leads them to be closer.
Physical Appearance[]
A young woman in her mid twenties to early thirties with long dark hair, tied in to a ponytail. She seems to dress practically as a nurse, in subdued colors with no makeup. She wears a bandana around her face while navigating the apartments with An Gil-Seob and his flame thrower, probably to avoid breathing smoke.
Throughout the series she gradually comes to look more sickly, as her severe asthma takes its toll.
