Personality[]

Do-Hun has shown to be a spoiled, cruel, ruthless, and sadistic teenager, who enjoyed harassing and bullying people as he pleased. He uses his father's position as leverage to get away with his deplorable behavior. Do-Hun is also a cowardly man and was seen crying and soiled himself in fear when Hyun-su pushed him in traffic and almost got hit by a car.

Plot[]

Kim Do-Hun, also known as Daon Kim, plays a key role in Cha Hyun-Su's backstory in Sweet Home. Their dynamic begins when Do-Hun, as a new student, stands in front of a vending machine, seemingly unsure of what to do. Hyun-Su notices him and, thinking that Do-Hun doesn't have enough money, offers him a coin. Shortly after, some students playing nearby accidentally hit Do-Hun with a ball, causing him to fall. Hyun-Su extends his hand to help him up, but instead of accepting, Do-Hun feels humiliated and offended.

This marks the beginning of relentless bullying by Do-Hun, who manipulates the entire class to turn against Hyun-Su. Over time, Hyun-Su becomes completely isolated, with no one willing to associate with him. When Hyun-Su confronts Do-Hun about the reason for his torment, Do-Hun dismissively says, “The sky was clear,” underscoring the cruelty and lack of reason behind his actions. The situation escalates when Do-Hun threatens Hyun-Su, claiming that his father, as Hyun-Su’s father’s boss, could have him fired. Enraged, Hyun-Su stands up to Do-Hun, warning him to stay away from his family, but he restrains himself from resorting to violence. However, the bullying continues, and when Hyun-Su's parents are finally informed, they come to the school to address the issue. Instead of defending him, they blame Hyun-Su for the situation, further alienating him. After his parents visit the school and fail to support him, Hyun-Su's feelings of isolation deepen. He starts to resent his family, especially after his sister expresses shame for being related to him, claiming that she never had a brother. The lack of familial support only reinforces his loneliness and anger.

After his father’s visit to the school, the bullying subsides for a time. However, things take a dark turn when Hyun-Su witnesses another student, Park Ju-Yeong, being coerced by Do-Hun and his friends. They mockingly encourage Park Ju-Yeong to jump in front of a car, promising money to pay for his mother’s surgery. Furious, Hyun-Su intervenes and shoves Do-Hun into the street. Although the car stops in time, leaving Do-Hun unharmed, the incident has severe consequences.

Not long after, Hyun-Su’s father is fired, and Park Ju-Yeong’s mother dies because they couldn’t afford her surgery. Hyun-Su is blamed for these tragedies, leading to even greater alienation. These events solidify his loneliness and despair, which deeply impact his emotional state and set the stage for his character arc in Sweet Home.
