Biography[]
She's a middle-aged lady originally from Gangnam who runs Green Home's day-care centre. She's looking for her daughter Min-ju
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
In Episode 1 Cha Jin-Ok was standing in front of the Security Guard's office with a white box while the Management Staff scolds the security guard for having a bed inside the Security Office. Once he leaves Cha Jin-Ok comes closer to the secutity office window and tells the Security Guard that his boss is so loud and ignorant but she also tells him that before living in Green Home she lived in Gangnam and the security guards didn't have a bed in their office. After the security guard asks her what brings her to his office she tells him that someone sent her some fish but since she only eats yellow corvinas he could have the fish and gives him the white box she was holding. The Security guard thanks her for the present but she doesn't give it any importance by saying the term noblesse oblige and whishes a nice day to the security guard before going away but everything turned up to be a cruel prank because after the security opens the box its full of rotten fish and flies and the terrible smell causes the security guard to start bleeding from his nose.
She is later seen arriving at the lobby, she goes next to Son Hye-In and comments that her daughter hasn't come home yet and asks who lowered the shutters. Then the group tries to figure out why all the exits of the building have been blocked by someone. Once some of the residents break into the manager's office they are able to lift the shutters of the maing entrance but before they could make their way out they realized that a strange creature its standing on their way. The residents keep staring at the strange creature when his mouth opens wide and begins smashing through the glass with a twisting tongue, then with his tongue impales a Delivery Man and the creature, the Tongue Monster, starts sucking his insides which causes Cha Jin-Ok to run away and hide behind a column.
After Lee Eun-Hyeok and Seo Yi-Kyung managed to kick the Tongue Monster outside Green Home and Kim Seok-Hyeon presses the button to low the shutters once again Cha Jin-Ok and the fleeing neighbors return to the lobby where they look outside and see the tongue monsters is not alone, there are several other monsters outside of the building, they also see a running woman outside of the building but the monsters caught her and killed her.
In Episode 2 she tries to stop the residents to keep building a barricade against the main entrance because her daughter hasn't come back yet. She tells everyone to stop and runs towards, Lee Eun-Hyeok takes out her phone and shows him her daughter's location on a map, she tells Lee Eun-Hyeok to open the doors quickly so she can go outside and find her daughter but he refuses to do it, they keep arguing when everyone's phones began to show a notification of an emergency alert, after seeing that she sits on the floor and starts to cry.
Later when everyone is reunited at the Security Guard's office they decide that is safest if they all live together and they decide to do it at The Daycare Center but Cha Jin-Ok overhear it and goes into the office to say that she won't allow it. After unsuccessfully pleading again to Lee Eun-Hyeok to let her go find her daughter she lets everyone stay at her daycare center if thats what they want to do and leaves the security office in a fury.
In Episode 3 she is at the Daycare Center watching the South Korea president's speech and she waches with horror as the president starts bleeding from his nose and shout that everyone is going to die until he gets shoot several times by soldiers before the communication stops.
The next morning while everyone is distracted goes to the manager's office and presses the button that lift the shudders. Then she returns to the lobby and starts removing the barricade but before she can go outside she is grabbed by Ryu Jae-Hwan and Kang Seung-Wan, they start to pull her away but thats when Park Min-Ju, her daughter, appears running towards the entrance but before she could reach it she trips and falls over, hurting her foot. Everyone watching this wonder if they should go outside and help Park Min-Ju or not but they can't decide until Lee Su-Ung makes up his mind and runs outside to help Park Min-Ju. When he is about to reach Park Min-Ju they are both stabbed by the Tongue Monster's tongue who was hiding inside a pipeline. Cha Jin-Ok watches in horror while the monster lifts up her daughter and starts sucking Park Min-Ju's insides, when the monster finishes feeding on Park Min-Ju she drops her and Cha Jin-Ok screams.
In Episode 4 she cries after seeing her daughter getting killed and blames Lee Eun-Hyeok for Park Min-Ju's death.
Later she is in the floor leaning against a column and watches with watery eyes as Lee Eun-Hyeok, Ryu Jae-Hwan,Kang Seung-Wan and other neighbors re-build the barricade she previously removed to try to rescue Park Min-Ju; while she does that she is being watched by An Seon-Yeong and Son Hye-In who feel sorry for her.
Then she is sitting alone in a room watching photos of Park Min-Ju on her phone when Yoon Ji-Su joins her, tries to cheer her up by sharing photos of Hae-Rang and gives her a chocolate bar.
In Episode 5 she is still on the floor near the barricade watching her daughter's corpse that is still outside, Kim Ji-Eun asks Son Hye-In if they should do something about Cha Jin-Ok but Son Hye-In says that its better to leave her be.
Then she grabs Pyeon Sang-Wook and she asks him to help her get out in exchange of everything she has but Pyeon Sang-Wook ignores her request.
At night time Pyeon Sang-Wook goes outside to get rid of Choi Yoon-Jae's corpse and recovers Lee Su-Ung and Park Min-Ju's bodies, Cha Jin-Ok kneels at her daughter's side, hugs her and starts to cry.
The next morning she goes to the daycare center and with a wet towel starts to clean Kim Yeong-Su's arm when the little kid cleans a tear that it was rolling down Cha Jin-Ok's face, then the two of them and Kim Su-Yeong hug and break into tears.
After that she is seeing at the funeral ceremony in front of Park Min-Ju's grave, on her way out she crosses paths with Seo Yi-Kyung and Seo Yi-Kyung asks her if she is ok and Cha Jin-Ok answers her that she should be strong because she is a mother.
In Episode 6 she thanks Pyeon Sang-Wook for bringing her Park Min-Ju's body back and tries to pay him with a ring and a necklace but he ignores her and he is gone before she can finish taking off her necklace.
Later she goes to the lobby with Kim Yeong-Su and Kim Su-Yeong and observes as some of the others perform a simulation of what to do in case a monster appears. After the simulation the kids are playing with Kim Yeong-Su's dinosaur toy when Cha Jin-Ok takes it away from them and gives them a book for them to read but Kim Su-Yeong tells her that Kim Yeong-Su doesn't now how to read so she starts teaching the little boy how to read.
In Episode 7 Cha Jin-Ok, Lee Eun-Yu, Park Yu-Ri, Kim Ji-Eun and An Seon-Yeong pull the rope tied to one of The Spider Monster's leg to pull it away from Han Du-Sik long enough for Kim Su-Yeong to throw a molotov cocktail at him. Then she watches how Cha Hyun-Su finishes The Spider Monster off. Later Cha Jin-Ok and the other survivors watches as Kang Seung-Wan has a panic attack because of the lack of food and how An Gil-Seob calms Kang Seung-Wan down.
After that Cha Jin-Ok goes to the meeting where Lee Eun-Hyeok explains everyone how they are low on food supplies and explains his plan to get more food in a nearby convenience store.
Then she is present as Lee Eun-Hyeok examines Yoon Ji-Su after she passed out in the bathroom. She reassures Kim Su-Yeong and tells her that Yoon Ji-Su is going to be ok.
Personality[]
She seemed to think that she is better than the rest of the residents of Green Home because of her high status, Son Hye-In told Kim Ji-Eun that Cha Jin-Ok never associated with people like them but after her daughter's burial she had a change of heart and started to interact with the others residents and help everyone else to protect Green Home.
